She watched a nature program, alone, by herself.

Massive sheets of ice drifted
imperceptibly together,
locked in only by themselves
in the open ocean.

An iceberg, cragged tip, skewered the
calm horizon with harsh grace.
Then – mournful groans against bright sky,
thunderous crash.

Slow moment of chaos
dissolved into cold serenity again and
the iceberg, less of a jag against the world,
remained in place,

held still by the deep and endless blue below it.
And the dramatic shift became
just another part of the
dispassionate landscape

She watched nature herself alone.
