Note to world #257

The alarm rang.

But it was sort of beside the point because she had already been awake for hours.

If only she could be productive during all that time spent flopping around in bed. Maybe she should take up some quiet craft that wouldn’t wake the kids and the dog. Maybe making plant holders fashioned from brightly colored nylon cords and giant wooden beads. Or not.

She turned off the alarm.

She scrubbed up and donned her corporate costume in which she would sit all day making inconsequential decisions about intangible matters.

And then the alarm rang.

But it was sort of beside the point because she had been awake for hours. Again.

If only she could use all that insomnia toward something useful, a cottage industry for her livelihood. Maybe embroidering decorative flowers onto plastic mesh tissue box covers. Or not.

She swung her legs over the side of the bed and slipped into a suit. She had many tasks of insignificance awaiting her deliberation at her small corporate cubicle.

And then the alarm rang.

But she had already been awake for hours. Making plant holders and decorative tissue box covers in her pajamas.
