Butterscotch days

There were certain days she could turn over in her mind for a long time, like a piece of butterscotch candy. Every taste of those days swirled sweet and salty across her memory in languid motion.

Most of all, when she remembered these days, she did not want to forget the beautiful way it felt to love and be loved in return, even as she had to let go.
