Needles

She vacuumed up the very first pine needles from the giant Christmas tree that filled the entirety of their small living room. At first, she sagged at the idea of keeping the carpet cleared of all these tiny needles.

But by the end, she was smiling at the idea of finding bits of green sprinkles wedged all over the crevices of the house months later, a happy reminder of these moments.
