Two women were standing outside of her work building, ringing their Salvation Army bells and dancing and singing along with pop rock Christmas songs.
She paused in the street to absorb some of their infectious joy and for a minute, she envisioned herself dancing and singing too.
The guard on the corner noticed her watching them and said, “Go ahead and join ’em. I heard they’re looking for back up singers.”
And she did dance a small jig and snap her fingers a bit for the guard before she disappeared into the corporate industrial complex.
