Wind

The wind was howling
Enough to break her sleep.
Leaves were rustling, cackling,
Mocking faces in her dream.

Her breath taken by the
rattling, shaking gusts outside.
Her body trembling,
Quivering with the dry leaves.

The wind and the leaves blew
Through the weave of her sleep
Stole her desire, her heart
Stirred old memories.

She drifted to the elements
Scratching, clattering at the window
Lifted herself in surrender and
Blew away with the next breeze.
