Truth

She would take
The unvarnished truth
And sprinkle it with glitter
So that all her tales
Had a bit of sparkle.

I would wince,
The glare of it
Reflecting in the sun
So that my eyes narrowed
To glimpse the plain truth.

Unadorned
I thought it was still beautiful.
